Konnichiwa, minna-san! こんにちは、みんなさん

Please call me AicaIllustration, graphic design and blog writing are my main pursuits.  I speak English and Tagalog while I’m learning Japanese. I'm a first-born Aquarius 90's kid who keeps 2000's pop punk songs on repeat.

Most of the time, I’m either painting with watercolor, doodling digitally, or writing the latest blog entry. But when I’m not doing that, I’m running 5Ks, playing escape or simulation games, and looking for horror to read or watch.

How I Started Blogging

I started blogging around 2005, a year after I first discovered the Internet. Most of the time these were just rants against annoying schoolmates, swooning over celebrity crushes, and geeking over childhood fandoms. But most of the time, these blogs were just personal outlets. It wasn’t until 2016 when I realized I wanted to take it seriously.

I opened Art Student Aesthetic in the first part of 2016, but without any clear plan, it didn’t push through. But browsing through Twitter and seeing other creative people’s blogs inspired me to give blogging a second chance. Henceforth, Aicsthetic was born.

What is Aicsthetic?

By now you know that I may love the word aesthetic a little bit. Come to think of it, I do value visuals a lot and I have this underlying knack for art direction. What buzzword fit me better than

When I think of aesthetic, I also think of the two colors that inspire me when combined: aqua and pink. It’s pretty, isn’t it? It reminds me of Tokyo’s neon lights or 1980s pop. With my love for Japanese visuals, this color combo, and the root word, I combined Aica and aesthetic to make Aicsthetic.

What can I find in Aicsthetic?

My blog Aicsthetic takes on my journey as a freelance creative. So this is a creative freelancer's lifestyle blog filled with:

  • Stories and mini-reviews about “coffices” (cafe offices) I worked in

  • Events and happenings in the city

  • Lifestyle guides and tips I can help with

  • Places I travel to with my family and friends

  • Anything art–related: how I create and what I use

  • Movies and shows I want to talk about

  • And anything in my life that I'd like to share, really.

So this blog is for you if you:

  • (Want to) Freelance and want someone to relate with

  • Work a full-time job but you still want to do some side

  • Need to know the whats and wheres of the city

  • Like watching (and discovering) weird things

  • Like looking at life through an aqua-pink filter

By now you know everything about me that you need to know. So that leaves me with my closing greeting...

Yoroshiku onegaishimasu! よろしくお願いします
